The Order of the Pineapple is a service award given to those who show great service to the
"participatorial study of comedic attitudes and eccentric tendencies.” While it honors those awarded,
it is also meant to encourage such activities in others.

The Order of the Pineapple of the Ek-sen-triks CluborGuild (then called Ĕk-sĕn-trĭks Cluborguild)
began on 18 January CE (Chaos 18 YOLD), in the year A. D. 1982 (3148 YOLD). On that day the
ECG Co-Founder, the Founding Vice President of Chapter One of the ECG, was presented with a
pineapple. "Alien" (member name) received the award in a ceremony on that day held for some
reason we can’t remember. But it soon became a serious recognition for service. In time, it expanded
well beyond the original club.

change from year to year, and to be rather silly and essentially meaningless. The idea is that the person has
already given service, already proven emself, and doesn't need to promise to do anything.
Upon receiving the award, the honoree has the right to put the initials O.P. after es name. Usually the abbreviation
is used after a member name (ECG) or holy name (D & D of the ECG) or holy name (Discordian).
Another tradition of the Order or for any ECG or D & D of the ECG member is to eat pineapple or something having
to do with pineapple on Pat Pineapple Day. The person can do so while thinking about fulfilling the purpose of the
ECG. Or not. This tradition was begun by Alien, who took ECG members Raggmopp and Prudence (later known as
The Unknown Homecoming Queen and both later inducted into to the OP) out for pineapple pizza on January 18,
1983, the first anniversary of the award.
Those either allergic to or without access to pineapple (such as those being held indefinitely in solitary confinement
for suspected terrorist acts against hand puppets) can be creative in defining what is pineapplely. One could, for
example, consume all or part of an apple with the word “pine” carved into it; consume pine nuts while staying in the
“Big Apple” or sitting in an office of “Apple Records;” spell the word “pineapple” with alphabet soup and then eat the
soup, declare your saline solution to be pineapple juice, etc. While the consumption of actual pineapple is
encouraged, so is creativity.
Exception: Tattooing the word “Pineapple” on your next-door neighbor and then eating your neighbor is generally
not acceptable behavior on Pat Pineapple Day. (Note that by “eating” we mean actual consumption, i.e., non-
consensual cannibalism. Consensual acts that are legal and harm no one are not hereby excluded).
