The 12th award dates to 18 January 1993, or 18 Chaos 3159. This is the third year it was given by Earth Chapter 5 of the Ek-sen-triks Cluborguild. It was given on 18 January, and was called the Patus Pineappleus Bromeliadic and the winners The Bromeliaddicts.

In its first year, Chapter 5 gave the award only to members. In its second year, it gave it only
to non-members. In this its third year, the awards were split, and were given to member
Sister Midnight and writer-philosopher Timothy Leary.
Like the three founders, Sister Midnight was named after a David Bowie song (in this
case written with Carlos Alomar). Unlike them she was firmly gothic and was rarely seen
not dressed in black. She was part of the American force that encouraged the
post-punk and gothic band Sex Gang Children to get back together in 1991.
If anyone knows how to contact Midnight, they are invited to let her know about us or to
let us know about her (see our email address on our home page).
Dr. Leary popularized the catchphrases "Think for yourself and question authority" and
"Turn on, tune in, drop out." A psychologist and writer, he experimented with LSD with
no "bad trips" and was looking to use it therapeutically. Instead, he was fired from
Harvard, arrested and convicted based on evidence that was apparently planted by the
authorities. He coined "Reality Tunnel" in tune with the DIscordian concept of choosing
your own perspective.
It's unfortunately unknown how many chapters of the Ek-sen-triks Cluborguild were formed. While this one called itself the 5th, it was likely Earth's second chapter.
